Artist | Storyteller | Among other things

I'm an artist, writer, storyteller and creative based in West Wales, UK.
I've been writing, drawing and whittling wood since a kid, but began wanting to learn in 2012. Since then, I've made over 600 pieces of art, written multiple stories, created a whole multiverse with in depth lore and made multiple and varying things out of wood.

Art

Art has been a big passion of mine for a long time. I always aim to tell a story through it, and am continuously experimenting with style.
I believe the world needs more art, and want to bring even a little to it.

Writing

I started writing for an escape, for somewhere I could show my emotions without fear. I filled notebooks with the first story I ever wrote, then wrote four fanfictions which wear surprisingly successful, which all later led on to creating a whole multiverse with multiple stories. I hope to release it to world someday, maybe not all in written form, but in some creative way.

Woodwork

I started out carving sticks with a pair or pruners. At 10, I got my first whittling knife, and from there I carved anything I could think of from whatever wood I could get my hands on.
I joined the Furniture Making course at Coleg Ceredigion in 2019, made tables and cupboards, puzzles and boxes and much more. I've learned and made a lot there.

Photos and Video

I almost always have my phone to hand so I can take pictures. I always look for the odd angle, the contrasting colours, the picture that could tell a story.
Taking photos has significantly helped with art composition, colour, lighting and more.
I've also begun making videos, as for a long time I've loved film and looked into the behind the scenes in my free time.

Influences

Film/showSpider-verse
Spider-verse is an animated film (soon to be) trilogy. I've taken a lot of inspiration from the artstyle, as well as how it's animated. It uses a mix of 3D models, CGI and hand drawn elements, the style of which has been taken from comicbooks. My own artstyle has been influenced a lot by this.
Nimona
Nimona is an animated one off film, with a unique, almost flat looking animation. I love both the style and how they've used small techniques to tell a story. For example, throughout the film lighting is used to show who is good and who is bad. This has influenced how I think about art, composition and visual storytelling.
Arcane
Arcane is an animated series with a unique, painterly artstyle. The animation is different to other forms as it's been made in a game engine, with CGI on top and frame by frame hand drawn effects. A lot of the backgrounds, unlike most modern animation, are static, painted backgrounds with a fixed light source. This show has inspired me not just with the art and the way it's made, but with the narrative too. Much of the story revolves around emotion and telling that through images, which is something I want to bring into my stories.
Moon Knight
Moon Knight is a live action series based on a comicbook, with a lot of symbolism intertwining it's story. I loved how this was filmed, with a lot of long, panning shots, comicbook composition and many techniques to show emotion. Something I want to do in animation, or even live action, is to have one shots; one long scene from only one camera, and this series is a great example for it. It also inspired a part of my written world, and made me interested in bringing different mythologies into a modern context.
How to Train Your Dragon
This film series was the starting point of my art, and made me begin drawing in the first place. It is, of course, about dragons, and the range of designs made me interested in concept art. From then on, I've designed my own characters based on it, that have now gone on to be part of a bigger original world.

ComicsDon't Read This
A simple but impactful comic, following a nameless, simply drawn character. This comic partially inspired some of my more simple characters, including the the blob people and the story tiles.
After Dark
A brilliantly drawn and written comic about a werewolf. The artstyle is relatively sketchy, yet so well drawn and brings so much emotion to characters. This comic has helped with my own artstyle, showing me it's possible to draw in a sketchy fashion and still make things look good.
Here There Be Dragons
This comic has inspired some of my own stories and characters with its themes and art. Of course, there are dragons involved, and seeing how differently they were portrayed here has made me wonder how I could do the same.

Artistsnourhan.eee
An artist I've looked up to for a while, and who's art I've used as inspiration and study before. From them, I've learned to experiment and combine styles, textures and colour.
Pascal Campion
An artist and comic artist who's worked on some big franchises (eg. Marvel). His work has shown me it's possible to keep things simple and minimal, while still maintaining an incredible effect.
Hypercrystalized
They're artstyle has inspired mine by a lot, especially with comic style lineart and lighting. I've learned a lot from simply studying they're work.
ThatArtistCalista_
A good friend and incredible artist. Her art has inspired me to continue to learn and grow with my own, and find new ways of possibly being able to market it, make my own comics, animatics and even games. I've learned a lot about lighting, shapes and composition from her.
AndyArtworks
Also a good friend. His art inspired me to play with styles, colour and character concepts, as well continue learning and growing. He's helped me to carry on with something even when it's hard, and to try out new colour schemes, stories and styles.
Beosplit
Another good friend, and artist I've learned a lot from. I've become better at anatomy and backgrounds, and they're artstyle and enthusiasm has inspired me to learn from other styles and even find online art courses.
Fossilfigalpha
Another good friend of mine who does amazing concept art. I've learned how to use shapes to my advantage when designing something, and she's inspired me to draw more concept art for my own projects.

MusicRadical Face
More of an artist than a musician, he makes songs out of stories and does his own animatics and videos. Many of his songs have inspired short stories and eventual animatics of my own.
Of Monsters and Men
A modern folk band who make some honestly weird but wonderful songs and videos. The art for they're videos is a mix of drawn, animated and live action, and the stories they tell mostly never make sense unless you can unravel the complex meaning behind them. From them, I've found you don't have to have perfect animation for it to be good, just a well told story.
NF
A rapper who raps about how he feels, the state of the industry and his past. How open and raw the songs are has shown me I can try the same in my stories, instead of hiding behind flowery words like most stories do.
Sleeping at Last
A singer who takes the mundane and turns it into something beautiful. His Enneagram series of songs are made from not only instruments, but random sounds he's taken from around him and fit into the music. Using the mundane has been something I've thought of for a long time, but never really thought it was possible. This artist has shown me it's possible, and his ever changing music has inspired me to experiment.

GamesSky: Children of the Light
My favourite game so far. This is about a star/sky child who has to explore a mostly abandoned world, relive the spirits of the past and find a way to help it. Most of the game doesn't have dialogue, only actions and expressions. The setting also tells a lot of the story, which is something I aim to do in future comics, or maybe even games. This game also partially inspired the Story Tiles.
Inside
Another wordless game, with the story told through setting and actions. This game showed me how much small visual details can give a good story.
That Level Again
A game that challenges you to think outside the box, and "break" the game. The artstyle is simple but effective, and it influenced some of my more simple characters.
Detroit: Become Human
Though this isn't the usual style I like, it's the story that's made me think more about things. It's a multiple choice game, with every single choice having a major effect on which of the over 40 or more outcomes you get. In some way, this game inspired my Story Tiles, where you build your own story.
